Changes coming in local COVID testing sites Changes coming in local COVID testing sites

The Harrison County Health Dept. announced yesterday (Tuesday) that the Optum COVID-19 testing site at the Crandall Community Center will close effective June 23. The Indiana Dept. of Health decided not to renew the contract, which will expire the end of June.

Also, the COVID-19 community testing site located at the May & Joe Rhoads Memorial Pool in Corydon will close effective June 30.

“Now that testing has become more widely available, there are now a multitude of testing capabilities throughout the county from provider’s offices, pharmacies and the Family Health center,” said Carrie Herthel, administrator of the Harrison County Health Dept.

The local health department will continue to offer testing for uninsured, underinsured and individuals who do not have a provider. It will have the capacity to offer satellite testing as needed.

Starting July 6, testing with Rapid Antigen and PCRS will be offered in the lower parking lot of the Harrison County Health Dept. on Mondays and Tuesdays for this population. Individuals will need to call the health department at 812-738-3237 to schedule an appointment.
