Corydon Central High School distributed diplomas to 159 students during commencement Sunday afternoon in the school gymnasium.

Principal Keith Marshall said what he’ll remember most of this class is their willingness to persevere through the pandemic.

Of those 159 seniors, 29 are graduating summa cum laude.

“They are a great group of students and athletes that will go on to do great things,” Marshall said.

Those students are:

Meghan Elizabeth Albin of Corydon, daughter of Kristina Albin and James Albin. She participated in marching band and winter percussion. She plans to attend to Indiana University to major in computer sciences.

Rebecca Lynn Cherry of Corydon, daughter of Christopher Cherry and April Cherry. She was a member of National Honor Society and received the Indiana University Southeast Gold Recognition and Harrison REMC scholarships. She plans to attend Indiana University Southeast to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Samuel Craig, son of Brian and Nicole Craig of Corydon. He was a member of National Honor Society, Multicultural Club and Spirit Club, four-year member of the soccer team and one-year member of the track and field team. He earned the Soccer Defensive Player of the Year and Soccer Midfielder of the Year awards, was named Soccer Academic All-State, Soccer First Team All Conference, was a member of the soccer conference champion team and was a Lilly Scholarship finalist. He plans to attend Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Kelley School of Business to major in marketing.

Emma S. Cromwell, daughter of Blake and Lisa Cromwell of Corydon. She was a member of marching band, jazz band, Culinary Club, swim team, winter percussion, pep band, National Honor Society and Book Club. She earned three silver awards at Solo & Ensemble contest and the Spanish Department award. She plans to major in animal sciences at Purdue University.

Gabriela Anita Diaz of Corydon, daughter of Andrew Wade, Billi Wade and Omero Diaz. She was a four-year member of the soccer team, two-year member of the track and field team, four-year member of the Spirit Club and three-year member of Student Council. She earned the Science Award and was a nominee for North vs. South College Showcase Soccer Match and Leadership Conference. She plans to major in nutrition/dietetics at the University of Southern Indiana.

Grace Elaine Erwin, daughter of Jason and Wendy Erwin of Corydon. She was president of Student Council, a member of National Honor Society and Student-Athlete Leadership Team, Youth Leadership Harrison County and member of the basketball and softball teams. She earned the DAR Good Citizen award, basketball Academic All-State, Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Honors Court, South Harrison Community School Corp. Academic Excellence Award and was the 2020 homecoming queen. She plans to attend the University of Louisville to major in biology.

Jessica Mae Fulk, daughter of Patricia and Charley Fulk of Ramsey. She played basketball four years and soccer and was a member of National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was named Academic All-State. She plans to major in biology at the University of Louisville.

Dylan Goodman of Corydon, son of Kamman Shellman and Danny Goodman. He earned Academic Honors and Technical Honors and plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College.

Emma Christine Goss, daughter of Frank and Dawn Goss of Lanesville. She participated in cheerleading, track and field and Youth Leadership Harrison County and was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council and Student-Athletic Leadership Team. She was named MVP of cheer her sophomore and junior years and MVP of track her freshman and sophomore years. She plans to major in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.

Sarah Elizabeth Grimes, daughter of Sharon and Patrick Grimes of Elizabeth. She was a three-year member National Honor Society and the cross-country team and one-year member of track and soccer teams, Student Council and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She earned first in mechanical drafting at the Skills USA regionals. She plans to attend Ball State University to earn a master’s in architecture.

Emily Marie Gunther, daughter of Chad and Jennifer Gunther of Corydon. She was a member of National Honor Society (vice president), Student Council, concert band, Future Business Leaders of America, Chess Club, Spirit Club, track and field, cross-country and gymnastics, served as vice president of her freshman class, president of her junior class and treasurer of her senior class. She earned the Panther Gold Award for GPA, Scholar Athlete Award for track and field, 2018 state gymnastics floor champion, 2020 cross-country MSC team champions, All-Conference Honors cross-country and semi-state qualified in cross-country. She joined the Air National Guard and will major in political science at Indiana State University while pursuing an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.

Jagger Shane Holton, son of Thad and Dana Holton of Corydon. He was a member of National Honor Society, Spirit Club, Multicultural Club and Student-Athlete Leadership Team and track and field, soccer and basketball teams. He was part of the track-and-field conference championship team two times, soccer conference championship team, soccer All-Conference and Academic All-State soccer two times. He plans to earn a degree in aviation at Vincennes University.

Zachary Carmen Houghland, son of Camron and Rebecca Houghland of Corydon. He was a member of National Honor Society and the cross-country and track and field teams. He was named All Conference three times, a semi-state qualifier, a regional qualifier four times and part of the conference championship team two times. He plans to attend college.

Rayna Alexis Kelley, daughter of Matthew and Heather Kelley of Corydon. She was a member of marching band, jazz band, Culinary Club, pep band, winterguard, theatre, National Honor Society and Book Club. She earned Algebra II Honors Award, Nutrition and Wellness Award and one gold and two silvers at Solo & Ensemble contest. She plans to major in nursing at Indiana University Southeast.

Lucas Dean Lee, son of Amy and Darrin Lee of Corydon. He was part of the soccer team (four years, team captain three years) and track and field (four years), was a NCAA Ambassador (one year) and belonged to the Multicultural Club (one year), Students Against Destructive Decisions (one year), National Honor Society (two years), Spirit Club (four years) and Renaissance Club (two years). He was Academic All-State in soccer (two years), member of the soccer conference championship team (one year), track-and-field conference championship team (two years), soccer First Team All Conference (two years), soccer All-Conference Honorable Mention (one year), track and field All Conference Honorable Mention (one year), Soccer Newcomer of the Year freshman year, Soccer MVP sophomore year, sectional runner-up in soccer senior year, regional qualifier in track and field freshman and sophomore years and Business Management class award freshman year. He plans to major in finance at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Jenny Lin of Corydon, daughter of Jian Lin and Qiong Xu. She was a member of HOSA (vice president), National Honor Society, Spirit Club, Multicultural Club (treasurer), Renaissance and was an athletics volunteer. She received the English Department award, Panther Gold Award and the Lily Scholarship. She plans to major in biology at Indiana University.

Ethan Michael Lisher of Corydon, son of Sarah, Brett and Tami Lisher. He was a member of National Honor Society and the soccer, football and baseball teams. He plans to attend Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to major in nursing.

Camden Marshall, son of Keith and Alecia Marshall of Corydon. He was a member of the Multicultural Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Spirit Club, Student Athlete Leadership Team, National Honor Society and soccer, cross-country and track and field teams. He was named Most Valuable Runner twice in cross-country and once in track and field, six-time individual track and field Mid-Southern Conference champion, one-time individual cross-country Mid-Southern Conference champion, two-time cross-country sectional champion, one-time cross-country semi-state champion, two-time cross-country state qualifier, two-time track and field Mid-Southern team champion, 800-meter sectional champion and Academic All-State. He plans to major in finance at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University while running track and field and cross-country for I.U.

Caitlin Morrison, daughter of Cliff Morrison of Corydon. She plans to attend Indiana University Southeast.

Isabelle Marie Phipps, daughter of Darin and Julie Phipps of Corydon. She was a member of Student Council (vice president) and played two years each of soccer (captain), volleyball and softball and earned the Physical Education Award. She plans to major in exercise science at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with hopes of later attending graduate school to become a physical therapist.

Zane Pigg, son of Dawn and James Pigg of Corydon. He was a member of the track and soccer teams, National Honor Society and Chess Club. He was a member of the soccer conference championship team, Mid-Southern Conference Honorable Mention and track-and-field conference championship team two times. He plans to study East Asian language, culture and politics at Indiana University.

Paige Elizabeth Richardson, daughter of Marcus and Jennifer Richardson of Corydon. She was a member of the golf team, Spirit Club and National Honor Society. She plans to attend Indiana University Southeast for either nursing or pre-medicine.

Grace Ann Rout, daughter of Tim and Laura Rout of Corydon. She was a member of marching band, winter percussion and National Honor Society. She received the Chemistry Renaissance Award (2019), Geometry Renaissance Award (2018) and the College Board National Recognition Rural and Small Towns. She plans to major in chemistry and Spanish at the University of Indianapolis.

Trystan Riley Schreck, daughter of Jeff and Carrie Schreck of Corydon. She participated in softball, volleyball, Student Council, National Honor Society and Youth Leadership Harrison County and was senior class president. She was a member of the softball conference, sectional, regional and final four softball team and was named Academic All-State in volleyball. She plans to study nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.

Brian Thomas Sharp of Corydon, son of Clinton Sharp and Megan Anderson. He was a member of track (three years), cross-country (four years), wrestling (one year), National Honor Society (two years) and Spirit Club (four years). He was named Academic All-State in cross-country one year, Mid-Southern Conference Honorable Mention in cross-country two years, a regional qualifier in cross-country four years, member of the cross-country conference championship team one year and a semi-state qualifier in cross-country one year. He plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana for exercise science.

Gabriel Marshall Tracy, son of Amity and Marshall Tracy. He was a member of the marching, concert and jazz bands and earned Eagle Scout. He plans to attend the University of Memphis for a degree in earth sciences and be a part of the Mighty Sound of the South (the university’s marching band).

Tessa Allianna Travis, daughter of Charity and James Travis of Corydon. She was a member of winterguard, color guard, 4-H and 4-H Junior Leaders, National Honor Society, Book Club, Culinary Club, Art Club, Spanish Club, Spirit Club and Renaissance. She earned the Panther Gold Award, achievement in environmental science, Best Colorguard, marching band state finalist and first-place finalist with the winterguard. She plans to major in biology at Indiana University.

Lilli Rhys Weber, daughter of Sherri and Randy Weber of Corydon. She played soccer and was a member of National Honor Society (president) and earned Mid-Southern Conference Honorable Mention in soccer. She plans to attend Indiana State University.

Jillian Alizabeth Wise of Corydon, daughter of Rachelle Wise and Jason Wise. She was a member of National Honor Society, Youth Leadership Harrison County and the cross-country and track-and-field teams. She earned the Panther Gold Award. She plans to major in strategic communications at Indiana University Southeast.
