James E. (Jim) Smith, 88, of Corydon, Ind., died Sunday, June 6, 2021, at his home near Corydon.

He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Corydon, to the late Orville Archie (Smitty) Smith and Elva F. Mauck Smith.

He was formerly employed as a clerk at the old Lamon Davis Hardware Store, at the old Town and Country Store and at Limeberry Lumber Co., all in Corydon, was formerly employed at Wayne Knears Ashland Gas Station in Corydon and at the old Indiana Army Ammunition Bag Plant near Charlestown, Ind., was a member of Faith Assembly Church in Clarksville, Ind., and KYANA Geological Society in Louisville, Ky., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen L. Padgett Smith; his son, John Mark Smith of New Salisbury, Ind.; his daughters, Sharon Smith Paisley (Greg) of Mauckport, Ind., and Rebecca Smith Jensen (Kevin) of Corydon; his grandchildren, Charles E. Paisley (Rachel), Lois J. Leamer (Philip), David C. Jensen (Britney) and Sarah Kendall (Kaiden); and his great-grandchildren, Jared Leamer, Jeremiah Leamer, Kaitlyn Leamer, Elizabeth Paisley and William Paisley.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor James Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Corydon.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Padgett, Daniel W. Padgett, Philip Leamer, Kaiden Kendall, David Jensen, Jared Leamer and Jeremiah Leamer.
