South Central Junior-Senior High School is set to have its graduation ceremony Sunday at 4 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

“This was a challenging year, but change and adjusting to change will be the thing I remember the most,” Dr. Mark Black, principal, said of this year’s class. “These students had to deal with virtual instruction, sometimes by their own choice, but in other situations it was forced upon them. I feel that a number of paradigm shifts will occur as a result of this school year, and this class was the class that blazed the trail toward that shift.”

Six students share the top honors of the class.

“Emma Meeks and Brooklynn Smith are both highly intelligent and would be successful in any path they chose,” Black said. “I am proud to say they both chose education, and I am sure that they will both be highly successful in impacting the lives of students in a positive way.

“Hanna Mudd and Jocelynn McCoy were both extremely strong students and chose to major in history,” he said. “This is a broad field, and I am sure their creativity will find them success.

“Justine Stone is going to focus on geology as her major, which is in strong demand in many different areas; she has the skill set to be successful in any branch of geology she chooses to focus on,” Black said. “Finally, Lillian Boley was our leader on the basketball team. She has chosen to enter into an electrical apprenticeship that I am sure will find her great success.”
