Ronnie C. Leffler
Ronnie C. (Ron) Leffler, age 76, of Depauw, Ind., passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Ind.
Ron was born Oct. 30, 1944, at Ramsey, Ind., to the late William Rusk and Josephine Wurm Leffler.
Ron was a graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a B.S. in education. He also graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a master’s degree in education. Ron taught agriculture at North Harrison High School. He later taught agriculture at Salem High School. He also worked for many years at Federal Land Bank. He was a loan officer at Old Capitol Bank and worked for Prudential Insurance Co. He was a member of Crandall Masonic Lodge 591 F&AM and Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing weekly with his buddies. He also loved Purdue University and was a huge sports fan. Above all, though, Ron loved his family dearly, especially his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William Dale Leffler and Noble (Jim) Leffler, as well as brothers-in-law, Walter Roggenkamp and Stanley Stevens.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy Rhoads Leffler of Depauw; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Michael Walker; grandsons, Landon Andrew and Brayden Michael Walker; brothers, Donald Leffler (Carol) of Corydon, Ind., and Stephen Leffler (Nancy) of Depauw; sisters, Mary Jo Stevens of Corydon and Barbara Roggenkamp of Corydon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester Rhoads (Rhonda) of Corydon and Donn Rhoads (Jerra) of Corydon; and nieces and nephews, Rusk Roggenkamp (Shirley), Roy Leffler (Dana), Virginia Elmore (James), Stefanie Bliss (Jim), Jeremy Leffler (Ronda), Danette Rhoads (Karen Koch), Michael Rhoads (Stephanie), Matthew Rhoads (Nikki) and Derrick Delaney (Kelley). He is also survived by several great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as his life-long best friend, Keith Oppel.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Old Capitol United Methodist Church, 141 S. Heidelberg Road SW, Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Highway 64 NW, Ramsey, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
