Shirley Baker, 83, of Austin, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Ind.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1937, in Perry County, Ky., the daughter of the late Andy Holland and Rosie Watkins Davidson.
Shirley was a homemaker and a member of the Scottsburg Church of God. Before her health made it impossible, she was very involved with her church and actively participated in the activities at the Austin Senior Citizen Center.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Baker; a brother, Arlie Holland; two sisters, Eule Mae Atkinson and Anna Lou Blackwell; and a half brother, Harold Holland.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Schickel, and her husband, Robert, of Lanesville, Ind.; a half sister, Patty Holland McNeely of Lexington, Ind.; three grandchildren, Kevin Smith (Heather), Lisa Barnes (Dustin) and Matthew Schickel (Janna); and eight great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carter and Camden Smith, Samuel and Andrew Barnes and Olivia, Isabella and Clara Schickel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at the Scottsburg Church of God with the Rev. Terry Eversole, the Rev. Chad Muncy and Bishop Sonny Fugate officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Scottsburg Church of God.
Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social-distancing guidelines can be observed and will be limited to 50 people in the building. Please follow the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines while attending the services, and face masks will be required due to the governor’s executive mandate.
Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to either Amedysis Hospice, Scottsburg Church of God or the Diabetes Foundation in c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg.
