Items sought for benefit silent auction

Items are being collected for a silent auction to benefit the family of Robert (Bob) Mercer, the 40-year-old Elizabeth man who died Jan. 29 in a single-vehicle crash.

The silent auction, along with a lasagna dinner, will take place Saturday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the South Harrison Community Center in Elizabeth. There are plans for a 3-on-3 basketball tournament; details will be announced as they become available.

Some items already collected for the silent auction include an iPad, HP wireless printer, a Vera Bradley bag, a wooden American flag with a fire department theme and a Marathon gift card.

Anyone or business interested in donating something for the auction is asked to call Sara Deatrick at 812-972-9255.

All money raised at the event will go to a fund set up for Mercer’s wife, the former Heather Matlock, and their two daughters, Lilah and Emmersyn.
