Capital Aquatics swimmers fare well at Jasper meet
Forty-six members of the Capital Aquatics swim team traveled to Jasper early last month to compete in the three-day Jasper Medalfest Invitational, where they finished in first place, their second top finish of the season.
“As with everything else, it has been such a difficult year for the swimmers due to all of the health concerns, quarantines and limited competition opportunities,” said coach Bailey Seitz, “but our kids keep turning in great performances, and this weekend was no different.”
Andrew Bolling and Emma Stilwell earned top honors, winning the high-point award for their respective age categories.
First-place event winners included Eli Robbeloth, Damon Smith, Andrew Bolling, Andrew Millay, Isaac Mikel, Jack Hildreth, Emma Stilwell, Bryce Stilwell, Ellis Kaiser, Cam Lasley, Carter Bolling, Ryder Schell and Ryan Cochran.
Other notable accomplishments from the weekend were Mason Spencer and Miles Elrod qualified for the Indiana Divisional Championship. Qualifying for the Indiana State Championships in March were Brecke Wolfe in the 9-10-year-old girls’ 200-yard freestyle, along with fellow teammates Andrew Millay, Isaac Mikel, Eli Robbeloth and Jack Hildreth who qualified in the 11-12-year-old boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays. Bryce Stilwell, Cam Lasley, Ellis Kaiser and Andrew Bolling qualified in the 9-10-year-old boys’ 200 freestyle relay. Andrew Bolling also qualified in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
Capital Aquatics is an 85-member team, ages 6 to 18, dual registered and competes in both USA Swimming and the Kentucky/Indiana YMCA sanctioned meets.
