THREE-PEAT! Lanesville best in SAC


The Lanesville Lady Eagles captured their third straight Southern Athletic Conference championship Monday night with a 72-28 win at Crothersville.
Linzie Wernert led a balanced attack with 19 points while Gracie Adams scored 18 and Emma Campbell knocked down five three-pointers for 15.
The Lady Eagles (18-3) moved back to the top of the Class 1A rankings this week after a Trinity Lutheran loss at Jennings County.
The Lanesville girls have gone undefeated in 15 SAC games during their three-year championship run and will close the regular season at home tomorrow night (Thursday) against Scottsburg.
Lanesville turned back visiting New Washington, 53-26, last Thursday night in a game between the last two unbeatens in the Southern Athletic Conference.
Wernert scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and made all four of her free-throw attempts.
Adams led the Lady Eagles in rebounding with 13, including 12 on the defensive end of the floor.
Two nights earlier, Lanesville got 25 points and five rebounds from Adams in a 67-33 rout over host Orleans.
Wernert added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Morgan Sonner chipped in 10 as nine different Lady Eagles scored.
The Lady Eagles made 17 steals on defense.
