Fessel equals school mark with 40-point outburst

Corydon Central sophomore Tyler Fessel tied a school record for points in a single game with a 40-point performance Saturday night at Charlestown.
The Pirates, however, rallied from a 64-60 deficit at the start of the fourth quarter for an 89-84 Mid-Southern Conference win over the Panthers.
Fessel’s 40 points equals the effort of Stu Engleman, who tallied 40 in a 70-69 win against South Central on Feb. 4, 1977.
Fessel scored 21 of those points on seven three-pointers. Five different Panthers scored from three-point range, totaling 14 on the night.
The Panthers (5-10) were coming off a 76-61 win at Salem on Friday night and will host Paoli on Friday before traveling to Brownstown on Saturday.
