Call about newspaper cancellation a scam
A customer said her husband recently received a phone call in which the caller said their “local newspaper” was going to be stopped.
The man didn’t listen much past that point, assuming he would have to press a button to make a payment or something.
The customer wanted to make sure the call wasn’t about either of O’Bannon Publishing Co.’s newspapers, the Clarion News or The Corydon Democrat.
She was also worried that if others get this call, they might think it’s legitimate and do something that they are told on the phone.
The call came from a 1-800-866 number.
