Verna Laurene Stange, 92, Corydon, Ind., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Harrison Springs Health Care Facility in Corydon.

Verna was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Marshall County, Ill., to Earl Raymond and Erma Jennings Wabel.

She spent her life working on the family farm and caring for her family. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Corydon.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lawrence Wabel, Leona Carter, Eldon Wabel, Edwin Wabel, Harold Wabel, Doris Wabel, Lucille Balenseifen and Leatha Van Herzel.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Francis Wm. Stange of Corydon; two sons, Steven Francis Stange (Mary) of Corydon and David Edward Stange (Dawn) of Youngsville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Stange, Justin Stange, Benjamin Stange, Noah Stange and Joshua Stange; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor Andy Rutrough will preside.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, and after 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery near Corydon.

Due to COVID-19, we are limited to 25 people at one time in the building, masks and social distancing is required and no food to be brought in to share with the family. Thank you for your understanding.
