Darrel Ray Sieg, 76, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, in Corydon.

He was born Feb. 14, 1944, in Jackson, Miss., the son of Gilbert Carl and Lenelda Seibert Sieg.

Darrel was an Indiana University graduate where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He was owner and operator of Chic-A-Lay Eggs Inc. with his father, was an assembler for Ford Motor Co. Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky., and was owner and operator of The Trophy Shop Taxidermy in Corydon. He was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon and was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam era. He loved the outdoors, he loved to walk, hunt, boat, fish and work on the farm. He kept an immaculate yard and, most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren, attending all of their activities, especially baseball games.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones Sieg of Seymour, Ind.; son, Christopher Eric Sieg (Lesa) of Clarksville, Ind.; daughter, Joanah Rae Wischmeier (Tom) of Brownstown, Ind.; brother, Ron Sieg (Phyllis) of Georgetown, Ind.; sister, Linda Thomas (Stanley) of Corydon; and grandchildren, Kailin Leigh Sieg, Dylan Thomas Wischmeier, Caden Alan Wischmeier and Landon Ray Wischmeier.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. The Rev. Andy Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Corydon.

Due to COVID-19, we are limited to 25 people or less inside the building, masks and social distancing are required and no food is to be brought to the funeral home. You may attend the funeral by remaining in your car and the service will be transmitted to your car radio on 106.7 FM.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either Old Capitol UMC, IU Foundation for Prostate Cancer, American Heart Association or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
