Library’s Winter Reading Challenge could benefit HCCS
From Jan. 1 to 31, the Harrison County Public Library challenges the residents to participate in the Feed Harrison County Winter Reading Challenge.
The library challenges each individual to read at least 10 books during the month of January and track books on the HCPL Beanstack site at harrisonco.beanstack.org.
The community goal is for library patrons to read 2,500 books during the month of January. There are no prizes for individual readers; however, the community has the potential to win.
Tyson Foods has committed to donate 100 cases of chicken to Harrison County Community Services if the goal of reading 2,500 books is met or exceeded. Tyson’s donation would amply provide food for all 600 Harrison County families in need.
In addition, library branches will collect canned food donations for Community Services. Donations can be taken to any branch or to curbside pickup.
Readers are encouraged to share their progress on social media using #WinterRead2021.
