Youth basketball registration open at Y Youth basketball registration open at Y

The YMCA of Harrison County is accepting registrations for youth (ages 7 to 13) basketball, until Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Y, located at 198 Jenkins Court NE in Corydon.

Program will run Jan. 18 to March 20 with games on Saturdays beginning Jan. 30. One-hour practices will take place during the week at the Y depending on coach availability.

Masks are required for all spectators, and social distancing is encouraged.

Volunteer coaches are needed. All coaches must have concussion training and child abuse prevention training in order to coach. These trainings will be provided by the Y or can be found via https://ymcaharrison.org/coaches-corner/. Coaches should bring in their certificate of completion to the coaches’ meeting.

Financial assistance is available, with support from donors, for youth basketball as well as a variety of other programs and membership at the YMCA of Harrison County. It is the Y’s pledge, within its available resources, to provide services to individuals regardless of ability to pay. Those unable to pay the full fee may apply to receive sliding-scale assistance through the Open Doors program. Open Doors assistance is granted based on personal need, enrollment limitation and the Y’s financial resources.
