Side gigs could lead to potential lawsuits

Circumventing federal, state and local laws are killing some businesses.

Daycares face illegal competition from providers who call themselves “home based” although never apply for any certifications or apply for a business license. Food is being made at home and sold throughout Facebook on a “pick-up” basis; however, these goods haven’t been made in a health department-certified establishment with cleanliness standards.

Why would you trust the care of your child to people who haven’t taken the time to pursue child care as a legal business? Why would you trust food to people who haven’t taken the time to pursue baking/cooking as a legal business?

One lawsuit from a child accident or one lawsuit from undercooked or cross-contaminated food and this “side-gig” will become a side-lawsuit.
