Members of the Capital Aquatics swim team traveled to Mount Vernon this past weekend to compete in the Candy Cane Classic Invitational, where they placed first with a total of 3,520 points followed by Mount Vernon (2,593), Newburgh (2,324), Greater Evansville (2,001), Jasper (1,700), Boonville (1,390) and Vincennes (520).

It was the first major invitational win for the team, which is in its second season.

Three swimmers received high-point honors, which go to the swimmer who scores the most points in their age category during the three-day event. They were Emma Stilwell for the 6 and under girls, Andrew Bolling for the 9-10 boys and Jasmine Barretto for the 15-18 girls.

The team also qualified four more swimmers for the Indiana State Championships: Bryce Stilwell, Andrew Bolling, Ellis Kaiser and Cam Lasley.
