Charles (Red) Eldon King, 79, Georgetown, Ind., passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, in the comfort of his home and presence of his family.

Red was born in Gibson County, Ind., on April 21, 1941, the son of Charles and Melba Eaton King.

Red retired from Navistar International (formerly International Harvester) after 30 years of various positions at the company. He also operated β€œRed’s Garage,” where he was a generous mechanic to all of his Georgetown neighbors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, a tradition he would pass to his sons. Red was a member of Tunnel Hill Christian Church of Georgetown.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Laverne, William and Leonard King; and sister, Lucille King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Earlene Broyles King; two sons, Brian E. King (Jennifer) of Eaton, Ohio, and Kevin C. King (Angela) of Elizabeth, Ind.; two sisters, Wanda Juliot of Floyds Knobs, Ind., and Linda Wiseman (Jon) of Corydon, Ind.; five grandchildren, Amber Rhoads (Zach) and Abigail, Kendra, Kaleb and Nathan King; and several nieces and nephews. Red is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law whom he was incredibly close to.

The funeral ceremony will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown. Pastor Becky Gibbons will officiate. Burial will follow in Mifflin Cemetery in English, Ind.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, from 2 until 7 p.m. and continue Wednesday morning at 9 until the funeral.

Due to COVID-19, the current restrictions in place are as follows: masks are required to enter the building and a there is a maximum limit of 50 people in the building at once.
