The Harrison County Parks Dept. will offer its fourth annual Merry Country Christmas on Friday and Saturday and again the following two Fridays and Saturdays.

Merry Country Christmas will feature hayrides at Hayswood Nature Reserve west of Corydon through a light show. Departure times will be 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 each night of the event.

Guests will be able to wait around a bonfire prior to their departure time.

Tickets — $12 for adults and $7 for ages 2 to 12 (those younger than 2 are free) — can be purchased in advance online at and by calling 812-738-8236.

Smores’ kits, hot chocolate and spiced cider, as well as blankets, will be available for purchase at Mrs. Claus Kitchen at Hayswood Nature Reserve.

A gift shop will offer an array of Christmas decorations, including special ornaments, and kids’ toys from the past. A line of Billy Jacobs’ lighted winter scene art prints will also be available.

Mrs. Claus Kitchen will offer a family-style traditional Christmas meal that includes roasted turkey, ham, seasoned green beans, corn, whipped potatoes and gravy, cranberries and desserts.

This event, with limited seating, required advance reservations by calling 812-738-8236. Meal times will be at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
