Lady Panthers fall in overtime as Weber nets 38


The Corydon Central Lady Panthers dropped a 66-61 overtime decision in the season opener Saturday night at Brownstown Central, ranked seventh among Class 3A teams.
Sophomore guard Ava Weber scored 38 points on 18-of-23 shooting to lead the Lady Panthers, but the difference came down to the free-throw line where Brownstown Central made 17 of 22 attempts compared to Corydon Central’s 8 of 20.
“We had chances down the stretch, just didn’t convert,” said Corydon Central coach Josh Conrad.
The Lady Panthers had a game postponed at Perry Central last night (Tuesday). It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22, in Corydon with the junior varsity game tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
Corydon Central will host the Battle at the First Capital tournament Friday night and Saturday.
