Jaycees change senior dinner to drive-thru
The Lanesville Jaycees’ 42nd senior citizens dinner will be different this year.
Due to funding changes and COVID-19 concerns, the dinner will be a drive-thru only on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., or as long as the food lasts, at the Lanesville Jaycees building. It is open to the public.
Seniors will not have to get out of their vehicle and will be provided with either a chili or potato soup meal.
Jaycee members said they believe this is the best way to maintain recognition of seniors in a safe way while maintaining their signature project continuity.
No invitations will be sent, but area churches will be advised.
The Lanesville Jaycees have been the underwriter of the event since its inception in 1979. Jaycees is a leadership training organization for young men and women to learn management skills and take part in personal improvement projects while supporting the community since 1974.
Members look forward to the return of their traditional Thanksgiving meal and fellowship next year.
