Marjorie E. Roll Marjorie E. Roll

Marjorie Ellen Roll, of Fredericksburg, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.

Marjorie Chastain, or Marge, as she was affectionately known, was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Washington County, to Edgar Earl and Cora Maudlin Chastain, the youngest of six children.

She married Paul Franklin Roll on Aug. 14, 1955. She survived Paul, who passed March 1, 2013. They have two children, Jeff Roll (Krisanne) of English, Ind., and Paula Baylor (Kevin) of Clarksville, Tenn. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Sophie Wallace (Scott), Tully Roll, Abe Roll, Levi Roll, Sadie Roll, Sydney Roll, Morgan Powell (Ben) and Makinley Baylor. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Olive and Amos Wallace.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Russell Chastain, Noble Chastain, Naomi Shanks, Osborne Chastain and Laura Alice Chastain.

Marge was a member of Fredericksburg Church of Christ, where she served faithfully for many years. She also retired from the United States Postal Service as postmaster, a position she performed with pride. Her greatest joy came from loving and caring for her family, particularly doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Chastain Funeral Home in Salem is handling the arrangements.

Christ has placed eternity in our hearts, and He is our hope in life and death. Marjorie Ellen Roll is home.
