William Hambley Ackley, a 2008 graduate of Lanesville Junior-Senior High School, has completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale University Hospitals in New Haven, Conn., and was selected for a two-year fellowship in nephrology at Yale University Hospitals.

Ackley is a 2017 graduate of New York University Medical School in New York City and a 2012 cum laude graduate of Georgetown University in Washington D.C., which he attended after receiving the Paul W. Ogle Scholarship from the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, a Walmart Community Service Scholarship, the Cordelia Clunie Medical Scholarship sponsored by the Nu Chapter of Phi Beta Psi, the George Bickel Memorial Scholarship and the Alphonse A. and Delores A. Schmelz Scholarship from the Harrison County Community Foundation.

During high school, he served four years as president of the youth council of the Boys & Girls Club of Harrison and Crawford Counties.

His brother, Bryan Hambley, a 2003 graduate of Lanesville Junior-Senior High School, has completed a fellowship in hematology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. In 2017, Hambley completed a critical care fellowship as Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as a chief resident of internal medicine in 2016 and completed a residency in internal medicine in 2015.

Hambley is a 2012 graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La., and a 2007 graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, which he attended after being awarded the Lilly Endowment Scholarship by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana and a Walmart Community Service Scholarship. In high school, he served three years as vice president of the Gerdon Youth Council at the Boys & Girls Club of Harrison and Crawford Counties.

In September, Hambley began a position at the University of Cincinnati Medical School as an attending physician with a focus on education and clinical practice in the areas of blood cancers, bone marrow transplantation and critical care.

The brothers are the son of Charles and Elaine Conrad Hambley of Corydon.

Their daughter-in-law, Jana Miller Hambley, has completed a fellowship in trauma surgery/surgery critical care at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed a residency in general surgery at Case Western University/University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2017.

She is a 2003 graduate of Angola High School,  a 2007 graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend and a 2012 graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

The daughter of Dr. Thomas Miller of Angola and Kathy Smith of Fort Wayne, she began a position at the University of Cincinnati Medical School as an attending physician with responsibility for instructing surgery residents and fellows in general surgery and surgery critical care.
