Southern Indiana is my home
From Madison to Mount Vernon and from Vevay to Vincennes, the scenic hills of Hoosier land are my favorite landscape.
From the wondrous beauty of Bloomington and Lake Monroe to the scenic vistas of Brown County and the Little Nashville’s shops all in a row.
From the high-bank oval at Salem, past the dirt track in Brownstown all the way to Indy’s famed Brickyard, this is my home.
From Jackson County’s watermelons to Mitchell’s persimmon fest. And from Starlight’s strawberry fields in springtime to Jefferson County’s golden delicious apples in fall, Southern Indiana has it all.
From Spring Mill to Clifty Falls and from the Falls of the Ohio to Patoka Lake.
From the rich bottom lands of the White River and the sparkling white water of Blue River, this is why so much rich heritage is at stake.
From the limestone pits of Bedford to the cave country of Harrison and Crawford County. There are covered bridges and lonesome volunteer cedar trees everywhere,
Basketball goals on nearly every driveway and on rural country barns. From French Lick to Terre Haute and in between its hoops horses and hogs all a part of the scene.
You are in Bar-B-Que country. Grills on the deck and picnics on the patio. Time for chicken, steaks and chops from Corydon to Indianapolis and from Bethlehem to Santa Claus.
Old pick-up trucks provide the best transportation to traverse this grand section of America’s land of play. Take a cold soda pop or lick on a dreamsickle on a hot summer day. Just let your dog hang his head out the window on the way.
There are mushrooms in the springtime and honey in the summer.
Cantaloupes and sweet corn, sweet grape arbors, all fruit for your labor.
Southern Indiana is heaven on earth, so enjoy it with me and my family tree.
I like to camp it, swim it, fish it, hunt it and just lay back and enjoy it. Here is my home, and I thank God for it. He made it, and He allows us to live in it so come on enjoy it with me, why not? It’s all free.
