The 86th annual Halloween parade, hosted again this year by the Friends of Corydon Capitol, will take place Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m.

Parade registration and lineup will begin at 3 p.m. at the Fred Cammack Corydon Farmers Market, located at 124 S. Mulberry St.

The route will be the same as last year: from the farmers market, the parade will travel east to Maple Street, turn north to Chestnut Street, head west on Chestnut, proceed to Capitol Avenue, turn north on Capitol, travel to Walnut Street, head west on Walnut and then disperse.

Awards will be given in the following categories: Best Animal, Best Performing Group, Best Vehicle, Grand Marshal Award and Presidential Award.

Organizers remind participants that candy and other items are not to be thrown from floats or vehicles in the parade.

The Friends said there will not be a costume contest this year but they expect it will return next year.

The parade is sponsored by Kellum Imprints and Dr. Lisa Clunie.
