Burchel (Butch) (Jay) Morgan, 72, Fredericksburg, formerly of Melbourne, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Born Aug. 27, 1948, in Leslie County, Ky., he was the son of the late Thadeus and Lucy Hamilton Morgan.
He graduated in 1966 from Bowling Green High School in Ohio, where he played baseball and football and ran track. He earned an associate degree in computer science from Spencerian College and worked several years for Cissell Manufacturing Co in Louisville. He earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the Florida Institute of Technology and retired from the city of Melbourne as the I.T. director. He was a 32nd degree master Mason at the Valley-Daylight Lodge No. 511 in Shively, Ky.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Malva Morgan Bryant.
Survivors include a sister, Jolene Boyer, and a daughter.
Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.
Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Horners Chapel Cemetery near Fredericksburg.
