Charles Edwin Lawton, 89, Corydon, Ind., died Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at Indian Creek Health Campus in Corydon.

He was born May 22, 1931, in New Castle, Ky., the son of W.A. Lawton and Ethel Frances Crawford Lawton.

Charles was an Army veteran who fought in the Korean War. He was a parts coordinator for Exide Corp. and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold M. Lawton, Earl Lawton, Herbert W. Lawton, Robert Lawton and Howard Lawton; and four sisters, Elizabeth Kumm, Mildred Popejoy, Caroline Lawton and Dorothy Getchell.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Browning Lawton of Corydon; two daughters, Wendy Kay Norris (James) of Corydon and Anna Maria Dean (Larry) of New Albany, Ind.; four grandchildren, Kristian Naugle of Corydon, Rachel Timberlake (Jason) of Corydon, Trey Dean of New Albany and Sommer Dean of New Albany; two great-grandchildren, Ozzy and Isis; one brother, Dean Lawton of Corydon; one sister, Laura Louise Kaufherr of Three Oaks, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until funeral time.

Pastor Betty Sieberns will officiate. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery in Corydon,
