A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after being struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The crash occurred at about 2:45 on S.R. 135 south of Corydon near Watson Road, according to a Facebook post by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept. The Indiana State Police also responded to the crash.

Witnesses told police that a passenger car traveling north on S.R. 135 crossed the center line into the southbound lane and side swiped an oncoming sport utility vehicle then struck a motorcycle that was also traveling south on S.R. 135, pushing it across the highway where both the car and motorcycle hit a pick-up truck in the emergency lane.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office as Billy Gene Taylor, 49, of Pekin, suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the passenger car was airlifted to the hospital, according to police. All other parties involved sustained only minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, and police had not released any names as of yesterday (Tuesday).
