The Corydon Central boys’ soccer team, last year’s conference co-champions, played and won its first conference game of the 2020 season 5-2 on Aug. 25 against Charlestown.

Avenging their OT penalty-kick loss in last year’s sectional, the Panthers scored first on a penalty kick in the first half.

Ethan Lisher had three goals and one assist, Hayden Ettner had one goal and two assists, and Jagger Holton had one goal during the home contest.

On Thursday, Corydon Central dropped a home game to Class 3A New Albany, 1-3.

In that contest, New Albany scored first. Corydon Central tied in the second half but then gave up two goals in the final minutes.

Lisher scored the only goal for the Panthers, from a Lucas Lee assist.

Corydon Central’s next contests are scheduled for today (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. again Madison Consolidated, Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lanesville and Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. against Silver Creek.
