Bonnie L. Keithley Bonnie L. Keithley

Bonnie L. Keithley, 87, of Georgetown, Ind., died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020.

Bonnie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a fantastic mother of five and was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She retired from the Floyd County Auditor and Recorders offices and was a dynamic secretary for her husband’s auction service. She was a member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church. She loved to sing praises to the Lord and lead our family of seven in singing at church and other events in our younger years. She would wake our family up every Sunday morning with the blaring sounds of “The Gospel Jubilee” on the TV and when we got home from church you could smell her delicious roast as soon as you opened the door. She was all heart, always so loving and kind to all of us and had the gift of generosity as she helped countless individuals throughout the years. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and the blessed assurance that we can see her again someday in her heavenly home with Jesus.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Patty Ritchie (Bill) of Georgetown, Doug Keithley (Jackie) of Georgetown, Howdy Keithley (Cherie) of Georgetown and Kenny Keithley (Lisa) of Georgetown, and brothers, Bruce Banet (Shirley), Larry Banet, Danny Banet (Becky) and Roger Banet.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59.9 years, Charlie; her eldest son, Michael; and her brothers and sister, Paul Banet, Jackie Banet and Glynnie Brock.

Bonnie was born in Louisville, Ky., on March 21, 1933, to Francis and Helen Allen Banet, who resided in Georgetown, where she grew up. In 1951, she married Charles Keithley of Georgetown, whom she described as the mean boy on the bus. Eventually, they settled on a 27-acre farm in Georgetown of Floyd County, Ind., where they raised a family built on a firm foundation in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and partnered together to build a successful auction service business. A home filled with love, laughter and lots of music and memories. It has been said that the Keithley home was so sweet, it would give “Leave It to Beaver” cavities and Bonnie was a big part of that. (Thanks, Mom.)

Due to the COVID-19 risks, no funeral service is scheduled. Perhaps at an appropriate time in the future, a celebration of life can be held safely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Edwardsville United Methodist Church (4830 IN 62, Georgetown, IN 47122, Attn: Bonnie Keithley Memorial).
