Nellie L. Sams

Nellie L. Sams, 94, of Corydon, Ind., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at Harrison Springs Health Campus in Corydon.

She was born Sept. 18, 1925, near Corydon, to the late Roy and Elva Curts Rainbolt.

She was a retired cook at Corydon Elementary School and was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Corydon. Nellie also enjoyed baking and decorating wedding cakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin R. Sams; her granddaughter, Amber C. Lynch; her brothers, Clyde, John and Harry Rainbolt; and her sisters, Ruth Adams, Irene Messmer and Nina Alstott.

Survivors include her son, James I. Sams (Betty) of Corydon; her daughters, Deloris C. Wathen of Evansville, Ind., and Elaine S. Lynch (Donnie) and Angela E. Wyman (Ronnie), both of Corydon; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were private at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
