Firefighters work the scene of a single-vehicle crash Aug. 18 along Big Indian Road east of Corydon. According to the crash report by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept., the driver, Diego Perez, 21, of Georgetown, ran his 1994 green Mazda pick-up truck off the roadway and then overcorrected, which caused the truck to flip, slide to the north side of the road and flip back onto all four tires. Perez was found unresponsive, but still breathing, next to the driver’s door. It was not known if he was ejected or got out of the truck and collapsed. The report indicated there were empty beer cans scattered around the truck, and Perez tested positive for prescription drugs and had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.16. Perez was transported by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville. Police are pursuing criminal charges for the incident. Photo by Kaitlyn Clay
