Carole J. Underwood Carole J. Underwood

Carole Johanna Underwood passed into eternity to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

She was born in Chicago on April 22, 1942, to Paul P. and Audrey Kroen, both deceased.

She leaves behind her “little” brother, Paul M. Kroen (dear sis, Patti).

Carole was married in 1963 to her high school sweetheart, James Patrick Russo (now deceased), for 15 years with whom she was blessed with two sons, Joseph Michael Russo (Susan) and James Paul Russo, who left this world on June 5, 2008, and to whom she will be joyfully reunited with. Carole was married on her birthday, April 22, 1982, to her best friend, Gary Steven Underwood, for over 25 years, and they were blessed with their son, Gary William (Billy) Underwood. She also sadly leaves behind her delightful and brave grandson, Kile Ross Russo, son of Joe and Susan.

Carole was a secretary/administrative assistant most of her life, retiring after 12-1/2  years from Horseshoe Southern Indiana in 2010. She bids a fond farewell to her very dear friends at Horseshoe and especially the shared love of Mandi with Mary and Elizabeth.

As a believer in Christ Jesus, she attended area Baptist churches and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, Colo. Carole loved hearing and studying God’s Word and makes one request of her loved ones: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” I’ll be waiting to be joined with my dear children and grandson and all my loved ones.

Carole asks that, if you can, please celebrate the conclusion of her life here on earth as she joins her son, Jimmy, and at their burial site at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Corydon. She also requests that “the boys” please keep hers and Jim’s resting place nice with flowers and recognize the importance of the dates. Your love and attention was always appreciated.

Donations are suggested to any of the following: Graceland Baptist Church — Barnabas Center, The Healing Place — men’s services, Louisville, Ky.; Charity of your choice for our brave military men and women (for Becky); Les Fredrick Ministries, (through the Bible with Dr. J Vernon McGee); and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
