Karen E. Flock Karen E. Flock

It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Eileen Turpin Flock announce her death.

Karen was born March 13, 1947, in Portsmouth, Va., and died Saturday, July 4, 2020, in Louisville, Ky., at the age of 73.

Karen spent her early childhood in various cities as her father served in the Navy.

Settling down in Depauw, Ind., Karen attended North Central High School, where she found her life partner, Philip Flock. They were married May 13, 1967, and created a happy life of 53 years together.

She worked numerous jobs in her younger days before having children, but was the best at being a wife to Phil and mom to Jason and Amanda. She found an even greater job when she became Grammy to Alex, Max, Emma and Chloe. You could always find Karen at the baseball field, the basketball court or the swim natatorium watching her grandkids compete. She never missed an event.

Karen had many gifts and creativities, such as sewing and quilting.

As her years continued, she also found a calling in her spirituality and became a Reiki master and Tarot reader. She thrived on helping decrease the aches and pains of others through her Reiki talents. Karen also loved telling you the “probability and possibility” of what a Tarot reading meant. She felt a deep connection to the Universe and had unique gifts to offer those around her.

There aren’t many humans as unique as Karen, and the family mourns the loss of the wife, mom, Grammy, friend and sister that she was to everyone who knew her.

She would ask that you enjoy every minute of your time left, love those who need it, take care of our Earth, dance in the moonlight and always buy the shoes.

Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Phil; her children, Jason (Jessica) and Amanda; her four grandchildren, Alex, Max, Emma and Chloe; and her brother, Keith, and sister-in-law, Sarah.

Due to the current situation of the world, a private ceremony will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hosparus Health.

Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of the arrangements.
