Lil Rap returns to Corydon

Lil Rap, a business owned by Kathy Payne since 1989, recently re-opened a storefront in Corydon. While she moved into the location at 204 N. Elm St. at the first of the year, she officially opened for retail purchases the first of March.
Before re-opening her gift and retail side of the business, which she first started in 2011, Payne sold cemetery toppers and cups, along with hanging baskets and silk flowers for weddings or everyday arrangements. Now, the store has a selection of jewelry, gift items, home décor like candles, soaps and party dips.
“I really wanted to get back into the gift and home décor side of things simply because I missed the many interactions with people coming in and out of the store a lot,” Payne said.
She closed Lil Rap in December of 2016.
“We did mainly wholesale before with our silks for weddings or our cemetery toppers,” Payne said. “It is nice to get to see people out and about, especially now that the guidelines for the pandemic are less strict and they can come in and shop in person.”
Items like doormats and her rustic outdoor décor have been selling quickly as people have been working outside a lot with more free time and to get ready for summer weather, but she noted that all her signage has been popular in general.
“I am hoping to move my silks for the flowers back farther in the store so that we are able to expand our gift section since a lot of these items have become very popular,” Payne said.
Lil Rap is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
