Robert L. Yates Sr.
Robert Lee Yates Sr., 79, of Corydon, Ind., died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Harrison Healthcare Center in Corydon.
He was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Charles Kilgore and Annie Pearl Hooper Yates.
He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was a former employee of Union Mortgage and Loan and Commercial Credit, both in New Albany, Ind., and lastly with the Town of Corydon, and was a member of First Capital Christian Church in Corydon and a former member of Corydon Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Martha Noble; and his great-granddaughter, Hope Serenity Yates.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joann Watson Yates; his sons, Robert L. Yates Jr. (Sherry) of Corydon, Eric M. Yates (Tassy) of Beverly, Ohio, and Chris Watson of Corydon; his brother, Charles W. Yates (Barbara) of Corydon; his sister, Linda Sue Spencer (Dennis) of Corydon; his grandchildren, Julie Conrad (Paul), Melissa Agan (John), Susan Becht (Colt), Sarah Watt (Brian), Laura Yates, Jacob Yates and Ora Yates; and his great-grandchildren, Braden Conrad, Bailey Conrad, Cash Becht, Reese Becht, Carly Becht, Aubrey Watt, Lucas Watt, Eliza Agan, John Agan and Henry Agan.
Funeral: Private at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to First Capital Christian Church in Corydon.
