Ray William Byrne, 73, of Ramsey, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020, at Baptist Health Floyd hospital in New Albany.

He was born Sept. 26, 1946, near Corydon, to the late Hubert William and Lillian Quebbeman Byrne.

Ray was a member and elder of Northwest Christian Church in Depauw. During his lifetime, he worked for Cave Hill Cemetery as sexton and grounds keeper, Stratton & Terstegge Co. and Hobart Manufacturing Co., all in Louisville; Allstott’s Hardware, Vaughn Oil Co. and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department as corrections officer and jail commander, all in Corydon; and retired from Kaiser Wholesale in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Loretta Deaton; three sons, Timothy Byrne (fiancée, Angela) of Marengo, Bryan Byrne of New Albany and Kyle Byrne (Brandie) of Ramsey; three granddaughters, Heather Byrne, Kylie Byrne and Kellsie Byrne; and a sister; Joyce Housel (Wayne), along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Service: Private at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Woods Chapel Cemetery at Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Northwest Christian Church, P. O. Box 76, Depauw, IN 47115.
