Leo Jimmy Sims, 68, English, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Indiana University Health Methodist in Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 19, 1951, in Tokyo, Japan, he was the son of the late Carl and Tamae Ichikawa Sims.

He was a member of Valeene Wesleyan Church; retired from French Lick Resort; formerly worked as a city planner for the cities of Arlington and Dallas, Texas; was a planning director for Monroe County Indiana and Orange County Emergency Preparedness Director; and was formerly a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and Rotary Club.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Sims.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, the former Annis Dooley; a son, Colten Sims of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Sara Gilmore of Bedford; a sister, Sharon Sims of Escondido, Calif.; a brother, David Sims of Fort Worth, Texas; and two granddaughters.

Visitation: Saturday, March 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli.

Funeral: Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Harned Chapel Cemetery.

Officiant: Brother David Manship.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Orange County Humane Society or Valeene Wesleyan Church.
