Corydon Central High School graduate Jordan Wallace is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Karen Engleman, R-Georgetown, and her fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session.

Wallace is the daughter of David and Carolyn Wallace. She graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.

“I know I will leave this internship with valuable skills that will help me in graduate school, my first full-time job and life,” Wallace said. “It’s been one of the most rewarding experiences to work in a place that makes a difference in people’s lives.”

As a communications intern, Wallace produces podcasts, takes photos, designs handouts and works with state representatives in writing press releases and e-newsletters.

“The internship program provides young Hoosier professionals the opportunity to learn more about state government and how it operates while interacting with legislators and constituents on a daily basis,” Engleman said. “Jordan is setting a wonderful example that you can live far from Indianapolis and still be a House intern. Just like Jordan, students from our area will benefit from this experience and can apply those skills in their careers.”

Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
