The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced pairings for the 45th annual girls’ high school basketball tournament Sunday evening.

Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday and continue through Saturday, Feb. 8, with the regional round slated for Feb. 15 and semi-states on Feb. 22. The four state championship games that make up the state finals will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Tickets for the sectional tournament are $6 for a single session, or a tournament pass can be purchased for $10.

The following is a look at the local teams and their respective sectional pairings.

In the Class 4A Sectional 15 at Jennings County, which will start Feb. 4, Bedford North Lawrence will take on Seymour at 6 p.m. That game will be followed by Jeffersonville versus Floyd Central at 7:30. On Friday, Feb. 7, New Albany will play the BNL-Seymour winner at 6 p.m. and, in the second semifinal, Jennings County will play the Jeffersonville-Floyd Central winner. The championship game will be Saturday, Feb. 8, and will feature Friday’s winners taking on one another.

Charlestown will host the Class 3A Sectional 30. There will be one game on Tuesday: Corydon Central taking on Silver Creek. On Wednesday, Feb. 5 Charlestown will play North Harrison at 6 p.m. with Scottsburg and Salem to play at 7:30. On Friday, Feb. 7, Madison will play the winner of the Corydon Central-Silver Creek game at 6 p.m. Friday’s second game, at 7:30, will feature the winner of the Charlestown-North Harrison game playing the winner of the Scottsburg-Salem game. Friday’s winners will play in the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 8.

In the Class 2A Sectional 46, which will be hosted by Providence, play will get underway Tuesday with Eastern taking on Austin at 6 p.m. followed by Crawford County taking on the host Pioneers at 7:30. On Friday, Feb. 7, the winner of the Eastern-Austin game will play Henryville at 6 p.m. and Clarksville will play the winner of the Crawford County-Providence game at 7:30. The championship will be Saturday night, Feb. 8.

Both Lanesville and South Central will compete in the Class A Sectional 61 at New Washington. Play will begin Tuesday with Lanesville playing Christian Academy of Indiana at 6 p.m. followed by Borden taking on New Washington at 7:30. On Friday, Feb. 7, Rock Creek Academy will play the winner of the Lanesville-Christian Academy game at 6 p.m. with South Central taking on the winner of the Borden-New Washington game at 7:30. The Class A Sectional 61 championship game will be Saturday, Feb. 8.

To conduct the random drawing for the girls’ basketball state tournament, the IHSAA places ping-pong balls representing each school in a given sectional into a lottery-style air mix machine. A motorized fan in the bottom of the machine blows the balls around the inside of the transparent container and air then forces each ball up through a tube in random order. For example, the first ball retrieved from the machine will be the visiting team in game one with the second ball representing the home team in game one. The third ball to come out is the visitor in game two and the fourth ball the home team in game two. That same method is followed through all 64 sectionals and 16 regionals.
