Ralph E. Summers, 79, Jeffersonville, Ind., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, in Jeffersonville.

He was born June 2, 1940, in Atlanta, Ga., to Owen and Lena Schweitzer Summers.

He was a retired fire inspector for I.C.I., a Red Cross volunteer, member of Rehoboth Church and Rehoboth Cemetery Association, a co-founder of Byrneville Cemetery Fund and a member of the Travelers Century Club and American MENSA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Jeannie and Cynthia Summers; and a brother, Edgar Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Summers Kelly; grandchildren, Adam Eskridge, Caitlin Thomas Henson, Jordan Thomas and Allison Walker; nine great-grandchildren; and a niece, Jo Ann Winn. He was also the proud owner and survived by a total of four “Million Dollar Dogs.”

Visitation: Saturday, Dec. 28, from 2:30 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 29, after 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Sunday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in the Rehoboth Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society or the donor’s local animal shelter.
