Phillip E. Douglas


Phillip Edward Douglas, 76, Corydon, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019.
He was an Air Force veteran, worked a variety of jobs with the primary being the maintenance mechanic for the flood control division of the State of California, served as the fire chief for the city of Sutter, Calif., for 17 years and was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ovie Douglas, and three siblings, Jackie, James and Mary.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, the former Grace Hottell; a daughter, Crystal Taylor of Rio Linda, Calif.; three sons, Eric Andrews and Paul and Phillip Douglas, all of Rio Linda, Calif.; three siblings, Dovie Hamlet of Shepherdsville, Ky., Georgia Knight of Crestwood, Ky., and Ernie Douglas of Louisville; and six grandchildren.
Celebration of Life service: To take place at a later date. Cremation was chosen.
Arrangements: Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions’ Southern Indiana Chapel.
