Consumers from Blue River Services Inc. drop off 121 coats to radio personality Jesse Ras as part of 106.9’s Big Warm Hug Coat Drive.

Consumers in Blue River Services Inc.’s habilitation program participated in the 106.9 Big Warm Hug Coat Drive for the second consecutive year.

The coat drive benefits the Salvation Army and the Home of the Innocents and takes place the first week in December at Green Tree Mall in Clarksville. Last year, while on a trip to the mall, the Blue River Services’ group met Jesse Ras of 106.9 while he was staying there for the week to promote the coat drive.

So, for 2019, the group decided it wanted to help but make a bigger impact. The consumers spread the word throughout Blue River Services with flyers and Facebook announcements.

Soon, coats began coming in with the final total at 121. The consumers then loaded them up and took them to Green Tree Mall to deliver them personally to Ras. They were excited not only to see their friend again, but to help out with his donations. They even made him a Christmas card, which moved him to tears.

Ras ended up staying at Green Tree Mall 130 hours and collected 2,350 coats last month.
The Blue River Services’ habilitation team is determined to collect even more next year.
