A retirement party took place Friday afternoon for Ginny Hauswald at First Harrison Bank in Lanesville. She had worked at the bank as a vault teller for 13 years.
Prior to working at First Harrison Bank, Hauswald and her husband traveled frequently due to his career training thoroughbred horses. After planting their roots in Harrison County 20 years ago, Ginny found her way to her career with the bank via a recommendation by a friend.
“I worked as a retail manager at the time, but the store was about to close,” said Hauswald. “A friend recommended I come over and work here for a bit, and somehow that bit has lasted 13 years.”
Hauswald credits her co-workers for her longevity with First Harrison Bank, saying they have all become much more than just a staff at a bank.
“The people I work with are what made it,” said Hauswald. “It’s the sign of a good job when you love the people you work with. They really have become a family for me.”
Now, with a more relaxed schedule, Hauswald and her husband plan to return to what they love doing: traveling. Their plan to travel the country has been in the works for some time, and now they are finally able to do so because of her retirement.
“Now that I have free time, my husband and I are going to travel,” said Hauswald. “We put our house up for sale, bought a camper and are going to hit the road. We are planning to go to Arkansas for the winter and then in May come back for three or four weeks and then go West.”
