Jack R. Phillips


Jack R. Phillips, 86, Elizabeth, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Born Sept. 6, 1933, in Shepherdsville, Ky., he was the son of the late William L. and Estyle Reader Phillips.
He worked 41 years as a maintenance supervisor at Kosmos Cement in Louisville before retiring, attended New Beginnings Community Church in New Albany and was a member of Gideons International. He enjoyed RV camping, loved family gatherings, loved to play euchre and was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jo Ann Brewer; a son, Jeff Phillips (Teresa) of Scottsboro, Ala.; three daughters, Sandy Rampley (Mike) of Bloomington, Debbie Wilson (David) of Floyds Knobs and Jacquelyn Pease (Jeff) of Elizabeth; a sister, Nancy Shaffer of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren, Andrew Phillips, Ashley Pederson (Michael), Anna Phillips, Thomas Rampley (Briana), Katherine Rampley (Nick Cross), Amanda McMonigle (Justin), Sarah Pease (Carl Stones) and Rachel Pease; and six great-grandchildren, Emory Phillips, Connor and Malcolm Rampley and Drew, Kellen and Beckham McMonigle.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14, after 11 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Gideons International.
