Probation visit results in meth arrests
When Indiana State Police troopers assisted the Harrison County Probation Dept. with a home visit, the call escalated into a separate drug investigation.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Master Trooper Jackie Smith assisted the probation department with a home visit at 324 Wyandotte Ave., Lot 5, in Corydon. Shortly after arriving, Smith observed criminal indicators and sought and received a search warrant on the residence through Harrison County Superior Court.
As a result of the search and investigation, officers located more than 36 grams of methamphetamine.
The residents, Eric Daniel Purvis, 29, and Kayla Dawn Simon, 22, were arrested and remanded into the Harrison County Jail. Both were charged with a Level 2 felony of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor.
Smith and the probation department were assisted by ISP Troopers Jonathan Cain and Justin Geltmaker as well as officers from the Corydon Police Dept.
