Earnest L. Darland


Earnest Leon Darland, 84, Hardinsburg, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Harrison Springs Health Campus in Corydon.
Born Aug. 26, 1935, in Mackville, Ky., he was the son of the late Winfield Franklin and Tressie Marie Mattingly Darland.
He married Wilma Pulliam on Sept. 8, 1956. Earnest worked and retired from Pillsbury in New Albany after 41 years of service, was a member of Kansas Church of Christ, loved music, especially gospel and country and enjoyed hunting birds and deer, farming and, most of all, his large family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Gail Darland, and a brother, Randall Franklin Darland.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Wilma Pulliam; eight children, Gary Darland (Shelly), LouAnn McDaniel, Rebecca Lilly (Ronald), Theresa Darland Neff, Kevin Darland (Susan), Marilyn Doan (Dale), Deana Sturgill and Penelope Kinney (Stevens); two sisters, Louella Coker and Evalon Gillis (Connie); 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Nov. 26, from noon to 2 p.m. at Kansas Church of Christ near Salem.
Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at the church with interment in the church cemetery.
