Jennifer Carr and her daughter, Samantha, pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child at Harrison Hills Baptist Church, Lanesville, Tuesday morning. The church is one of several collection sites in Harrison County and expects to have between 700 and 800 boxes this year. The project is through Samaritan’s Purse and will deliver about 13 million boxes filled with necessities and toys to children in Third World countries around the globe this year. Gayle Hack, organizer for Harrison Hills’ project, said about 20,000 boxes will be turned into a regional site in New Albany next week. “Most of the children who receive a box have never had a present in their life,” she said. Hack noted every box contains a gospel story in the child’s language. A follow-up discipleship program impacts families as well. For more information, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
