Davis Y. Monroe
Davis Yocum Monroe, 92, Corydon, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, after a battle of cancer at Harrison Springs Health Campus in Corydon.
Born Dec. 7, 1926, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Leonard G and Genie Wilson Monroe.
He was a veteran of World War II, a businessman for more than 60 years in Corydon and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert, Tom, Howard and Charles Monroe; a sister, Juanita Williams; and a grandson, Brent Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Malitida (Tillie) Weis Monroe; a son, Ronald Monroe (Vickie) of Floyds Knobs; a daughter, Kimberly Monroe of Floyds Knobs; a granddaughter, Brook Hopkins (Jeff) of Gulf Shores, Ala.; two step-grandchildren, Wade Rozack and Morgan Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Calli Hopkins; and a step-great-grandchild, Aden Thompson.
Burial: Private in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Cremation was chosen.
