Virginia Marie Kirby Welch, age 75, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, in Reno, Nev., after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 9, 1943, in Blytheville, Ark., she was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn Kirby.

Virginia was born into a military family and lived in many places throughout her life. She was a kind soul and good woman who never met a stranger and left behind many friends, always compassionate and caring to those around her. She was a great cook and homemaker, creative and talented with arts and crafts and loved to decorate. She always had a nice home, loved music of all genres and taught herself to play the piano. Virginia loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, photography and other pursuits. She worked in retail for many years and was a welder for a short time. She lived a full life and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harold Welch; a sister, Ruth E Cox; and a grandson, Michael C Kaufer.

Survivors include six children, Wayne Brown, Candi Hogan (Tom), Sandy Moultane (Terry), Beverly Curtis (Steven), Jeanne Walter (Tom) and Sara Wilson; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister.

Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Alexander’s Funeral Home in Irvington, Ky.

Memorial service: Thursday, Nov. 14, at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home followed by inurnment.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
